Being a criminal defense lawyer is more than a job for Nicholas Fagnano. Whether it involves negotiations with prosecutors, filing motions, or trials, when necessary, he knows what’s on the line for his clients and is excited about defending people in a system that often gets things wrong.
Nicholas grew up in Youngstown, knowing he wanted to be a lawyer. After graduating from Kent State and then Akron School of Law, where he volunteered in defense and expungement clinics and interned with a local prosecutor’s office, Nicholas started practicing criminal law in Seattle, Washington, and never looked back.
Before joining Luftman, Heck & Associates in late 2022, Nicholas represented clients in Columbus, including through the Franklin County Public Defender’s Office, handling matters from misdemeanors and felonies to appeals.
Since joining Luftman, Heck & Associates, Nicholas has been fighting for people charged with:
- Drug Charges
- Assaults
- Domestic Violence
- Sex Crimes
- Robbery
- Burglary
- Murder
- Theft & Fraud
- Traffic Offenses
- OVI
- Weapon Offenses
- Expungements
- Probation Violations
“I saw how it was for a defendant to get a fair shake in the legal system. Thankfully, I love an underdog story and will do everything possible to get the best possible result.” – Nicholas.
As an attorney with Luftman, Heck & Associates, Nicholas understands the struggles that go along with a criminal charge and the underlying issues that may have led to the situation. As a skilled negotiator and zealous advocate, he fights hard, keeps clients informed, and is proud to be described as a straight shooter.
Nicholas doesn’t believe in sugarcoating things for his clients. A great case can still be lost, and a tough one can still be won. When Nicholas represents you, trust that someone passionate about your case and your future is preparing your case and fighting for you.
Outside work, Nicholas likes to spend time with his young daughter and partner, cheer for Cleveland sports, and is a burgeoning Columbus Crew fan. He also enjoys all types of card, board, and video games and loves to read.
